Why Track Time?

Time tracking in PMS helps you:

  • Measure how long tasks and projects actually take.

  • Compare planned vs. actual time spent.

  • Improve productivity and timeline accuracy.

  • Give project managers visibility into team workload.


How to Track Time in PMS

Start a Timer (Live Tracking)

  1. Go to Tasks or open a Project.

  2. Select the task you’re working on.

  3. Click the Start Timer button.

  4. Work on your task as usual.

  5. When finished, click Stop Timer.

  6. The system logs the time directly under that task/project.


Manual Time Entry Method 1

If you forgot to start the timer:

  1. Open the task.

  2. Click Timesheets icon (on left to Start Timer).

  3. Enter following details in "Add timesheet":

    • Start & end time (or total hours)

    • Note (optional, e.g., “Bug fixing”).

  4. Save → it gets added to the task history.


Manual Time Entry Method 2

If you forgot to start the timer:

  1. Open the project.

  2. Go to Timesheets tab.

  3. Click on "+ Timesheet" on left to add new timesheet
  4. Enter following details:

    • Start & end time (or total hours) 
    • Select Applicable Task / When worked on Support Ticket add applicable task

    • Note (optional, e.g., “Bug fixing”).Enter following details:

  5. Save → it gets added to the task history.

Viewing Logged Time

  • Go to the Timesheets tab inside the project.


Best Practices

  • Always start/stop your timer when working on tasks.

  • Add short descriptions when logging time manually—it helps managers understand your work.

  • Review your time logs weekly to ensure accuracy.

  • Use time tracking for both billable and non-billable tasks.
